Rhino duck
I am four weeks into my sixteen week placement at a large consultancy in Bath and all has been going well. A few days ago I started learning the 3D modelling software Rhino and today finished their second tutorial: a rubber duck.

Using the in built rendering gave something reminiscent of what is by my granny’s bath:

Rhino is fantastically easy to use and yet a powerful design package - something to do with it using NURBS, Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines. I know of a chap who runs scripts in Rhino to create complex and pleasing geometry and so that is my aim. First I have get much better with Rhino and its own way of doing things. And right now I have to tidy my room as Chickpea will be here any moment.

I love Mr Duck! He’s SO cute!
I’ll even let you off for having an untidy room because you’ve been making such an aesthetically pleasing feathery friend (and it’s actually very tidy anyway!)
Can you make other animals too? What about a frog to give the duck a watery friend? Or a rhino in Rhino?
A green frog is a great idea Hannah but the Brown Rhino was made looong ago and lives in Africa.
Sat a.m., guess you are on you way for walkies, computer stuff, din dins and b.day lunch - can’t wait!! x
you have to do a lion next - its like your signature animal and fits all the criteria (the criteria i made up):
- its orange - your favourite colour (well kind of the mane is orange but i guess the body is yellow)
- its says Raar - they are your initials and you say raaa lots too :P
- it lives in the african savannah alongside, you guessed it…the rhino!
- i like lions
- it will be a challenge… and as you are the archetypal engineer (or at least the most archetypal out of my friends) it will be ideal for you
- there are lions in south africa
- and lastly your hair is similar(ish) colour to their manes
see you know i’m right!
p.s. Happy Birthday!
Yummy yummy, more software to learn. Not convinced the large consultancy I’m with at the moment would know what to do with Rhino… unless Wiltshire decides to use up their surplus budget on computerised ducks to fool the environment agency.
