Wise words for students
On Friday I received my copy of the latest The Structural Engineer although I only got glance at it late last night. And what did I see on page six?

In case you missed it I would like to point out the bit which reads “Rob Rieder reports…” Oh yes, you know it: this is just the start of my many journalism achievements to come. Sadly not. It is true that I wrote a piece for The Structural Engineer but it was significantly rewritten by the magazine’s editor making for a far better read. It was interesting for me to read the edited version as I saw how she overcame the bits of my version that I knew were poorly written and was struggling to resolve.
I reported on the Tuesday Group’s talk by Chris Wise which I also coved in engtect a while back. There is another piece I intend to write for The Structural Engineer but that will be in about twenty months time. Any who, mini moo, how are you?

WOW!, nice article.
I never knew you could write so well (and yes I know the editor had something to do with it but most of it was you I’m guessing) and it must be really cool to have a by-line.
I’m surprised you kept it a secret from me when you were writing it, usually you can’t stop talking about your little mini projects etc.!
Anyway well done and congratulations!
Gosh! Am impressed amd what an excellent choice as your first (?) Tuesday speaker.
Looking forward to the next article in twnety months’ time.
Gosh - am impressed. What an excellent choice of guest speaker for the first (?) Tuesday meeting. Looking forward to the next article in twenty months’ time.
Sorry about the treble entry - wasn’t sure if I had sent my comment successfully!
Just noticed a mistake - the first line should read “..the Annual Students Evening…”
