Hair today, gone today
Ever since I was a child I have fancied having long hair. This is the story of hairy Rob.

I had a cut July last year for a family holiday to France which also served me for starting a new job in the same month. Since then I have had two cuts which just shaped and one, today, that sheared. Why long hair? I have always had ’short guys hair’ like “Tom, Dick and Harry” and wanted something different. I thought long hair would be sexy, charismatic, eccentric. I have used a selection of hair care products to at least better the odds but unfortunately with my frizzy wavy thick hair it was not sexy or charismatic. I was originally thinking along the lines of these male models I came across on the web:

My hair would not do what theirs does. I even had a look at the king of hair himself, more out of interest than inspiration, from his wonder years to late. This included the wet look, golden boy, buzz cut, Mohawk, boy band Becks, Westlife look, alice band, corn rows, Jesus cut, Mach 3 model.

Recently the figure I have based my hair aspirations on has been realistic but perhaps not the kind of role model you would imagine. I give you Captain Slow:

I found out that James May has a Brompton bike (four more weeks and mine should arrive) which somehow made it all okay.
Anyway after much indecision as to what to do with my hair I let Vicky, at Nick Brain Hairdressing who saw me today, to choose between doing some magic and shaping it, or shearing it back to my usual look. Her choice was quick and probably right.

So mum and Han not worry you any longer as my hair adventures end.
(I recommend Nick Brain, 2a York Street, Bath, for their good service, offering tea or coffee, good cut and good price. Mine cost £15 which included hair wash.)

What?!! You cut it! I don’t believe it! You were so set on growing it…You should have tried VO5 hair protect!
Although I have to admit, I like the short hair better.
Long hair is hot in the summer anyway!
Me, I liked the mad professor look - why be like eveyone else?
Although I know that this was ’something that had to be tried’, I think that you are unfortunate to have rather unruly, curly hair when long, giving you a “wafro” (white man’s afro!) so I’m afraid I do prefer you with shorter hair. But you knew that anyway!x
PS I really like the snip-snip pic - good Photoshop work!
All good things must come to an end I suppose!
haha james mays a phitty
hair
this is a pants site tosser
hello
i need hair model (new)
I think you’re so much cuter with short hair.
Thanks Ken.
You know what? One day I am going to grow my hair.
I prefer the first one
Mad professor hair is definaly the way to go!
you look a lot better with short hair perhabs you can used it like mathias lauridsen a bit in in the forehead and try some grass that makes your hair heavier and don’t flying all over your haed XD
Cheers Paco. I never thought of using grass before. Let me think about it…
James May is amazing. Just keep it short long like his was about a year ago.
Love
xxxx
Use Vaseline and beanie hats to train wavy hair if you can’t source pro products and equipment. Also, keep cutting the sides short until the top hangs past them. Thinning scissors are a plus for the back and sides at that point to keep the weight off. Keep chasing the dream sweetie!
Frankie. xxx
I have actually tried the hair under hat trick, Frankie, but not since school. Go well
James May… cor, what a sexy beast! Love him to bits. Have some guts and let it grow!!
Come on a ghd and a light relaxant would have solved ur prob in 20 MINUTES. Mine is like urs now it looks awesome. No pain no gain. That way it last about 2 days of perfect style ladies go mad drip drip. Oh and highlites make it even easier buy a tank of conditioner too.
I Have long wavy thick hair and way more frizzy than yours xD
Bro first step, DONT! go to a hair dresser, at about September time when the climate starts getting colder, buy a nice collection of wooly hats and start growing out again.
As it gets longer it weighs down and straightens out more and more, mines mid back now =] and it looked afro like at the length you had it.
for the first 6 months with hair like ours hats are our friends to wear it down and keep it in check =]
Then you can start styling it and you will have full wicked hair =]
Btw im 17 xD lol
The hat wearing thing has occurred to me and perhaps after getting married I might consider it but think I ought to keep my hair sensible for the photos
Later
heyy….
my hair can look like all those model pictures you’ve put up….and they’re not really hard to maintain!!
i’m a happy guy!!
let ‘em grow!!
cheers!
