Dissertation: Hourglass form
I was about to break for lunch but thought “how about varying the radius of the cylinder with x?” This would produce an hourglass form not dissimilar to the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum gridshell. A small change to the code and:

Sweet.

Sadly this is not usable for my dissertation as the green and blue curves do not follow geodesic paths over the surface. But I might look into the code for mapping geodesics over a surface in a few weeks if things are going very well.

That reminds me of Anish Kapoor’s big orange rubber sculpture in the turbine hall…
